A group exhibition featured artists Mandy Doctor and Belinda Piggott, each offering their interpretation of the theme Conversations. This early work used family photography to explore its familiar yet ephemeral qualities. Digitally produced images re-contextualised original photographs by integrating various backgrounds with fabrics and textures. A hand-drawn layer was added to connect the different layers of memory and reinterpretation through individual perspectives, resulting in unique multi-layered artworks. 2012 Kaleidoscope Gallery, Waterloo
Eve and friends 1 - Conversations - exhibition 2012 at Kaleidoscope Gallery, Waterloo. Is a group show with fellow artists Mandy Doctor and Belinda Piggott each interpreting the word “conversations”. My works on canvas are based on old family photographs: familiar, while hauntingly transient. I digitally created images, re-contextualising old photographs to create new meaning by incorporating new backgrounds, fabric and textural painting. A final layer is hand-drawn, framing the melding of the memories and re-interpretations together through one's individual experience.
